WWII service records



How do you go about obtaining service records for relatives who fought in World War Two?

For information,
WWII service records are only available from the Ministry of Defence (MOD). They cost £30 and you have to send off a death certificate. Although it asks for a service number, sometimes you don't have that information, so just fill in all the details that you do know and they should be able to locate your relative's records. The service can normally take anything from a few weeks to a few months, but obviously given the current circumstances you will be waiting a lot longer and I'd advise delaying ordering until we have returned to some semblance of normality.
